On Friday Marc is flying to China where 1/5th of the world lives.

He’ll be working in Hong Kong and Shenzhen halfway around the world.
Honk Kong is described as a combo of Manhattan and Hawaii, but 25 times larger. It is a part of China, but used to be a part of Great Brittan. Because of this, it is the only part of China where there is religious freedom. They speak Cantonese in Hong Kong and Mandarin in the rest of China. Mandarin is the most spoken language in the world. (Faith Hill expression WHAT? I always thought that was Chinese they spoke –huh?) They still have the one-child policy where each family can only have one child. In the big cities if they have more than one then they pay a steep fine. In the rural areas the babies are killed. (Wow, that’s harsh – none of us would be here if we had those type of laws) There are two types of churches in the rest of China: the underground church which is illegal and the government church which often (but not always) does not actually have an evangelical flare to it. Because of the corruption of the government church, many Chinese have made underground churches. The largest movement in China is called the Back to Jerusalem movement. This is really amazing as the vast majority of Chinese Christians have embraced this movement, many times through supernatural encounters like dreams. The Back to Jerusalem movement is an effort for Chinese Christians to travel from China to Jerusalem while making converts to Christ along the way. The idea is that the heart of the Muslim world is in that area and Chinese Christians because of their ethnicity can travel anywhere in the Muslim world and freely share the Gospel. His mission, should he and his fellow travelers choose to accept it, is to document the struggles and opportunities for Christians in China.
Marc’s biggest concern is for the ladies he leaves at home. Please pray a protective covering over Robin, Macy & Mallory – don’t forget Slugger, ok he’s not a lady. Marc is concerned about their health, emotions and well being while he is gone. On the other hand his three ladies are concerned about Marc’s safety, his aching back and his well being while he’s gone. And while we are praying for Marc’s back, safety and well being may we also pray that he finds the right people and the right stories to accomplish his mission brilliantly. Amen and Amen

Thanks for keeping Marc in your prayers. I talked with him this morning and he is doing well, just very tired. The girls and I are good too. We can't wait to get to Colorado on Friday!!
