Why to Say No to Drugs
By Nickolas McCartney

Jeff and his grandpa were sitting on the couch beside the fireplace, when Jeff, asks, "Grandpa, why do people use drugs."

So Grandpa answers, "I don't know, I really don't know. But let me tell you a true story of what happens when you take drugs."

"There was a teenager about your age who was having a really tough time. He was usually a straight A and B student but now he started coming home with C's and D's. He was also having a lot of trouble at home. So his friend said to him 'Why don't you take a cigarette or two and some beer. It will help calm you down. Trust me.' So he took his advice and had a cigarette the next day. At first he didn't like the smoke and so he stopped. But then a couple of hours later he decided that he actually did like it. He didn't know that the reason he liked it was because of how much nicotine they put in the cigarette. So he got another box of cigarettes from his friend and started smoking. He said he feels relaxed when he smokes. But when you smoke all you're doing is hurting yourself. Smoking affects your brain, your liver, your lungs, your heart, and pretty much every other organ."

"Over the next few years he continued smoking and drinking beer. When he was 16 though, he started smoking marijuana. He knew it was illegal but he couldn't help it. He knew how much smoking calmed him down, but what he didn't know was how much it was hurting him. He then started to inhale drugs. He started that when he was having some really bad times with grades and family and other things. He got drunk every day and was caught drunk driving a lot. The Police decided to arrest him with a 4 year sentence."

"While he was in jail the other criminals sold him more drugs that he has never heard of. Those were really strong drugs and it hurts your body really, really badly. After buying so many drugs he was glad to be in jail because he got to eat a better meal than he would have if he were not. After 4 years he purposely took illegal drugs in front of the chief of police just to get arrested. He didn't want to go to a place for poor people because he didn't think they would let him have drugs there."

"In jail he still took drugs and got drunk at night when the policemen wouldn't notice." So the Grandpa says to Jeff, "And do you know what happened to that man after taking to many drugs."

"What"

"He died in jail when he was smashing stones with the hammer"

"Just from taking a lot of drugs" Then his Grandpa said "Yes, and I want you never to take drugs. You just heard of what it can do to your body. And if you start taking drugs it will be very hard to stop. Nicotine is a substance that makes things addicting like cigarettes."

"O.K. I will never take drugs. I promise."

The End

AWESOME
